Manager - Public Relations (Financial Services)

Location: Boston or New York, United States; employees work in the office at least four days per week, with flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Base salary: $73,500–$129,100 per year, plus potential variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Plan and execute U.S. public relations activities for Columbia Threadneedle Investments.
• Develop media pitches, respond to interview requests, distribute market commentary and thought leadership, and maintain media lists.
• Work with a retained public relations agency and journalists covering business, markets, and investing.
• Prepare and distribute press releases, Q&A documents, and communications for product launches, manager changes, and other initiatives.
• Track, analyze, and report on media relations activities.
• Manage industry recognition programs, polls, surveys, and related communications initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 3–5 years of public relations or corporate communications experience, preferably in financial services, public relations agency work, or another complex regulated industry.
• Experience working with business, markets, and investing journalists.
• Strong verbal communication, editing, research, problem-solving, project management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Experience with corporate social media, media monitoring and analytics tools, and measurement and reporting of media relations activities.
• Valid U.S. work authorization is required without current or future visa sponsorship; a FINRA Series 7 license must be obtained within 180 days if not already held.

Nice to have

• In-house or agency media relations experience.
• Familiarity with broadcast, national, wire-service, and trade financial media.
• Experience using AI tools and related best practices for public relations and search.
• Experience with a large public company or complex regulated industry.
