Associate Packaging Development Engineer (Medical Device Packaging): Developing, testing, validating, and scaling packaging components and systems for medical devices with an accent on packaging materials, package integrity, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance. Focus on creating distribution and shelf-life testing plans, validating test methods, troubleshooting design and manufacturing issues, and applying FMEA and process improvement tools.

Location: Zuchwil, Switzerland; onsite role with 20% travel

What you will do

  • Develop packaging components and systems for medical devices under mentor oversight.
  • Enhance, validate, and scale packaging processes and package systems.
  • Coordinate physical testing to verify product and package integrity from manufacturing through end users.
  • Create distribution, shelf-life, and package testing plans; interpret results and communicate findings.
  • Review technical reports, procedures, and validation documentation for alignment with industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Support design concepts, manufacturability assessments, troubleshooting, risk assessments, and process or cost improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical degree, or extensive relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of packaging materials and packaging technologies for medical devices.
  • Professional-level English and strong communication skills.
  • Problem-solving ability, creativity, independence, teamwork, and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time.

Nice to have

  • Technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of design and manufacturing FMEA.
  • Polymer knowledge.
  • Experience with package and labeling regulations, GMP, quality assurance, process control, or lean supply chain practices.
