Director, Data Management (Clinical Data)

Location: Hybrid in South San Francisco, California; onsite at headquarters at least three days per week

Annual salary: $232,000–$284,000 for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead clinical data management activities across multiple studies and development phases.
• Define and implement data management strategies, standards, processes, and best practices.
• Oversee study deliverables including data management plans, CRFs/eCRFs, edit checks, database locks, and key documentation.
• Ensure accurate, consistent, timely, compliant, and analysis-ready clinical data through collection, cleaning, and reconciliation.
• Manage CROs and external vendors, including timelines, quality expectations, and contractual commitments.
• Partner with Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, Medical Writing, Regulatory Affairs, and senior leadership on study planning, risks, and analyses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of clinical data management experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO environments.
• 3+ years of people and/or project leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience with EDC systems such as Medidata Rave or Oracle InForm.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial operations, data flows, and regulatory expectations.
• Collaborative, mentorship-oriented leadership style with the ability to influence across teams.
