Transaction Accounting Director

Location: Chicago, United States; willingness to travel 25% or less of the year may be required.

Compensation: $126,500–$254,700 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Manage multiple concurrent Transaction Accounting engagements and engagement teams.
• Provide technical accounting, financial, and business advisory guidance to clients.
• Support sell-side readiness through accounting gap assessments, transaction-ready reporting, close-process improvements, and complex accounting analyses.
• Design and implement accounting policies, reporting structures, scalable monthly close frameworks, and controls.
• Support day-one and post-close accounting integration, financial reporting readiness, purchase agreement obligations, and close optimization.
• Contribute to proposals, business development, client relationship management, mentoring, and training within the Transaction Accounting service line.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 9+ years of professional experience.
• Strong leadership and client management experience.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of complex accounting concepts.
• Experience managing project teams and client deliverables.
• Ability to travel 25% or less, depending on client needs.

Nice to have

• CPA or equivalent certification.
• Experience with accounting and finance optimization, audit readiness, complex accounting analysis and consultation, or implementation of new accounting standards.
