Senior Research Scientist (AI)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; expected to work from the Seattle offices

Base salary: $170,000–$270,000 per year, plus bonus plans and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Train fully open foundation models focused on accelerating scientific discovery.
• Develop training pipelines and curate high-quality training data.
• Conduct fundamental research in foundation model training, agentic training, and multimodal foundation models.
• Provide scientific leadership, define research directions, and lead small teams when appropriate.
• Oversee and implement software systems supporting AI research.
• Author and present papers and build strategic collaborations with academic, industrial, government, and standards organizations.

Requirements

• PhD-level foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a related field.
• Significant experience building and training modern foundation models.
• Experience developing training pipelines and curating high-quality training data.
• Research experience and publications demonstrating applied research.
• Must be able to work from the Seattle office; the role requires authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, communicate information accurately, observe details at close range, and work under deadlines.
