What you will do

• Design and execute molecular cloning, protein expression, and purification strategies with the Discovery Protein Science team and CROs.
• Generate high-quality protein samples for X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy.
• Develop and optimize purification protocols and reagents to improve protein purity, homogeneity, and stability.
• Assess protein quality and stability using biochemical and biophysical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, Western blot, SEC-MALS, SPR, spectrophotometry, and mass spectrometry.
• Provide mechanistic insights into proteins involved in drug discovery programs.
• Manage multiple projects, troubleshoot experimental workflows, and present research findings to internal teams and external collaborators.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree, or a master’s degree plus 2 years of molecular or structural biology experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of molecular or structural biology experience.
• Experience with microbial systems such as E. coli or yeast, or with mammalian or insect cell culture for protein expression.
• Hands-on experience with biochemical analytical techniques including spectrophotometry, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, SEC-MALS, SPR, and basic mass spectrometry.
• Experience with chromatography systems and protein purification methods such as affinity, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, and size-exclusion chromatography.
• Knowledge of protein stability, folding, and quality control for structural studies.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate research results effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with dynamic light scattering, analytical ultracentrifugation, membrane proteins, Cytiva AKTA, or Agilent HPLC.
