Data Scientist (AI/Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA; relocation expense coverage to NYC or SF may be available.

Salary: $140,000–$190,000 target base salary annually, plus equity. Final compensation depends on location and level.

What you will do

• Own and expand the Ramp AI Index using Ramp’s business spend dataset.
• Develop metrics tracking AI token spending and return on investment.
• Extend economic research internationally and publish rigorous, accessible analysis.
• Build a customer-facing economics function, including Ramp’s economic outlook.
• Meet with customers and prospects, present findings to CFOs and finance teams, and provide actionable recommendations for planning, budgeting, and AI strategy.
• Translate complex data into credible analysis, clear visualizations, and practical business advice.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or Economist.
• Strong perspectives on the economics of AI, economic policy, new media, and writing.
• Strong SQL skills, preferably with Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery, including efficient query writing.
• Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Omni, Sigma, or Hex and distributing insights through reports and dashboards.
• Track record of delivering high-quality research, writing, and thought leadership on short, non-academic timelines.
• Ability to present data clearly to customers and prospects and communicate without being overly academic.

Nice to have

• Experience with the modern data stack, including Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, or Hightouch.
• Experience in payments or financial technology.
• Advanced use of AI for data science and strong visual design or charting skills.
• Active interest in economics, business, and AI news and trends.
