Mechanical Designer IV (HVAC)

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan; on-site five days per week

Annual base salary range: $65,200.00–$118,860.00; exception hourly compensation.

What you will do

• Lead 3D modeling, production drawings, and engineering documentation for HVAC components and assemblies.
• Translate product requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions and influence design decisions.
• Drive design execution from concept through production release and improve product performance, reliability, serviceability, and customer value.
• Establish design and drafting standards; own bills of materials, drawing revisions, and controlled documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, laboratory, and project teams.
• Lead complex projects, provide technical direction, resolve design issues, mentor team members, and coordinate, train, and review their work.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field plus 10+ years of mechanical design experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus 7+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar design platforms.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, design for manufacturability, tolerance analysis, engineering change management, and PLM, ERP, or document control systems.
• Effective communication and compliance with company safety and security requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in HVAC, industrial equipment, or a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD).
