Principal Medical Writer

Location: Remote within the United States; travel for events and meetings approximately one to three days per quarter.

Salary: $95,000–$105,000 per year, depending on qualifications, with eligibility for an annual bonus program or commission incentive.

What you will do

• Develop scientific content for print, digital, and live event deliverables aligned with educational objectives.
• Conduct and synthesize literature reviews across disease states, therapeutic advances, and clinical data.
• Use AI tools for research synthesis, drafting, fact-checking, editing, and document management while preserving scientific rigor and compliance.
• Review and edit content for accuracy, relevance, consistency, AMA style, and internal editorial standards.
• Prepare materials for pharmaceutical MLR review and manage revisions through internal and external review cycles.
• Assign and prioritize work for internal writers and freelancers while collaborating with project management and creative services teams.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience at a medical communications agency or company, with scientific content experience across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Advanced healthcare, life sciences, or biomedical sciences degree preferred, such as MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, or MS.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills with deep proficiency in AMA style and editorial standards.
• Experience conducting complex literature reviews and preparing content for MLR and pharmaceutical promotional compliance processes.
• Strong organizational and collaboration skills for managing multiple projects, timelines, clients, KOLs, and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or AI-assisted research and writing platforms, with the ability to explain their impact and responsible use in regulated communications.

• Experience mentoring, training, and providing editorial guidance to junior Medical Writers and Editors.
• Examples of AI-assisted writing, review, or documentation workflows that improved quality or team efficiency.
