Software Engineer, AI Infrastructure - USDS (AI)

Location: San Jose R&D; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $122,574–$259,200 annually, with potential bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Assist with the deployment, operation, and optimization of recommendation and search systems throughout their lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain internal software and automation scripts that eliminate manual work and improve R&D velocity.
• Support the availability of large-scale services across global data centers through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
• Track and report cloud resource utilization to support efficiency goals and cluster SLAs.
• Configure and manage monitoring stacks for service latency, health metrics, and system performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least one year of professional software development or infrastructure experience.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Go for clean, efficient automation tools.
• Experience with Docker and basic CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with agentic frameworks and tools development, plus strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience or internships in SRE, DevOps, or internal platform engineering.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Basic understanding of the machine learning lifecycle or model inference workflows.
