Full Stack Developer (Python/Django/Angular)

Location: Hybrid; onsite at NCBI in Bethesda, Maryland, approximately two days per week

What you will do

• Build robust, performant, user-facing web applications with Python, Django, and Angular.
• Develop and ship functionality for user interaction and scientific data visualization using modern APIs and frameworks.
• Support continued development of a petabyte-scale biological sequence data archive used by millions of daily users.
• Collaborate as part of an agile product team to deliver high-quality user experiences.
• Deliver responsive, accessible, mobile-friendly code with automated testing, builds, and deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a scientific field such as engineering or physics, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of full-stack web application development experience with Python, Django, and Angular.
• Understanding of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience with relational database modeling and data migration.
• Knowledge of accessibility and security compliance.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.

Nice to have

• Experience with web services and RESTful APIs, semantic markup, and modern web layout techniques.
• Experience with agile development processes.
• Experience with C++, SQL Server, and relational databases.
• Experience developing bioinformatics software that handles DNA sequence data.
