TL;DR
Manager, Human Factors Engineering (MedTech): Leading human factors engineering for regulated medical products, translating user needs into product requirements, design decisions, and evidence with an accent on usability, use-related risk management, and validation. Focus on guiding regulatory evidence and submission strategies, managing multiple development programs, and building high-performing technical teams.

Location: Hybrid onsite in Santa Clara, California, or Cincinnati, Ohio, with onsite work required three to five days per week. Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Salary: $134,000–$231,150 annual base pay for the Bay Area; $117,000–$201,250 for other locations.

What you will do

  • Lead a team of Human Factors Engineers across all phases of regulated product development.
  • Translate user needs and insights into product requirements, design decisions, and usability evidence.
  • Provide technical leadership for usability engineering, use-related risk management, and validation activities.
  • Shape roadmaps, evidence strategies, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Guide evidence packages and documentation supporting product approvals and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with R&D, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing on product and business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience leading human factors or usability activities for regulated products.
  • Experience managing technical professionals and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of usability engineering, risk management, and product development processes.
  • Ability to influence decisions, align stakeholders, and deliver results cross-functionally.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and leadership skills.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience supporting regulatory submissions and interactions with global health authorities.
  • Experience leading teams across multiple concurrent development programs.
  • Experience with complex medical devices, robotics, digital health, or healthcare technologies.
