TL;DR
Environmental Affairs Manager (EPR Compliance): Developing and managing global environmental programs covering packaging, WEEE, batteries, plastic packaging taxes, and other producer responsibility obligations with an accent on regulatory interpretation, compliance controls, and cross-functional coordination. Focus on monitoring evolving legislation, leading data collection and reporting, overseeing third-party providers, and improving compliance systems and reporting efficiency.

Location: Kragujevac, Serbia; full-time, on-site role.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain global Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies, processes, controls, and compliance initiatives for packaging, WEEE, batteries, plastic packaging taxes, and emerging regulations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, advising internal teams, suppliers, customers, service providers, and leadership on regulatory, registration, reporting, labeling, and fee requirements.
  • Monitor global EPR legislation, industry developments, and customer requirements, translating regulatory changes into practical business processes and compliance strategies.
  • Oversee third-party EPR service providers, consultants, registrations, data submissions, reporting, fee calculations, and audit support.
  • Lead EPR data collection, validation, and reporting with procurement, product management, logistics, finance, sustainability, legal, and IT teams.
  • Improve EPR data quality and reporting efficiency through new processes, systems, and automation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in EPR, environmental compliance, sustainability compliance, environmental regulatory affairs, product stewardship, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of global packaging, WEEE, battery, plastic tax, and producer responsibility regulations.
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation and convert requirements into business processes and compliance strategies.
  • Strong project and program management, analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and independent working skills.
  • Exceptional English communication skills for working with regulatory authorities, customers, suppliers, service providers, and senior leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, business, public policy, chemistry, or a related field; proficiency with MS Office, compliance databases, business intelligence tools, ERP platforms such as SAP, and AI-enabled productivity tools.
