Paralegal (Junior) – Trademarks

Location: Hybrid in Chicago or Pittsburgh, United States

Salary: $77,800–$97,300 annually, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications, statements of use, renewals, assignments, and extensions of time with the USPTO.
• Coordinate with foreign associates on international trademark filings, prosecution, renewals, and declarations of use.
• Conduct preliminary clearance searches, order full searches, and summarize findings for attorney review.
• Maintain trademark records in WebTMS or a similar database and monitor dockets, deadlines, filings, and responses.
• Monitor potential infringements and assist with takedowns and other enforcement actions.
• Prepare reports, support trademark agreements and formal documents, validate invoices, and communicate with legal, business, marketing, and foreign-associate stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of trademark paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
• Strong understanding of USPTO procedures and the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Exceptional organization, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Chicago or Pittsburgh.

Nice to have

• Experience with WebTMS or a similar trademark management database.
• Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
• Bachelor’s degree.
