Mainframe Systems Administrator

Location: Lansing, Michigan, United States; hybrid work may be available up to 3 days per week from home after initial in-person training. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, and administer z/OS systems software and vendor-supplied packages using SMP/E.
• Define and program software routines using established mainframe programming languages.
• Provide technical support to application programmers and other support areas.
• Debug issues involving systems software and adjust operating system settings to support business needs and optimize performance.
• Help develop and recommend standards and best practices for systems software use.

Requirements

• Experience with z/OS systems software installation, maintenance, and administration.
• Experience as a team leader or project coordinator.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
• Willingness to work occasionally outside normal business hours.
• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably with computer science coursework.
• Experience installing and administering CICS.
