Tax Accountant

Location: Bloomington, Illinois, United States; onsite, full-time

Salary: $64,800–$89,100 base pay per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan

What you will do

• Prepare, review, or coordinate state and municipal insurance premium tax returns with third-party vendors.
• Coordinate periodic estimates and payments of state and local premium taxes.
• Calculate and remit surcharge payments and complete required filings.
• Prepare annual reports, business license renewals, and state and local sales/use tax returns.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations accurately and on time.
• Identify process improvements and support tax-related business initiatives.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
• Degree in accounting and/or CPA designation.
• Experience with premium, sales/use, withholding, and/or general corporate taxation.
• Ability to use technology to improve business processes.
• Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks accurately and on time.
