Payroll Manager

Location: New York, hybrid

Polymarket operates a peer-to-peer prediction market platform where users trade on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs.

What you will do

• Run end-to-end payroll processing for a growing, multi-state employee base, including wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and benefits.
• Reconcile timekeeping data, garnishments, and benefits deductions before each payroll close and resolve discrepancies.
• Own federal, state, and local payroll tax withholding, remittance, filings, and compliance gap resolution.
• Maintain and improve Rippling or Deel configuration as headcount, roles, and compensation structures change.
• Partner with HR, Legal, and Finance on hires, terminations, compensation changes, reporting, audits, and year-end filings.
• Build or configure systems that replace manual payroll processes with scalable controls and automation.

Requirements

• 4+ years of progressive payroll or accounting experience with direct ownership of multi-state payroll and tax compliance.
• Experience in a high-growth technology startup or private company where processes were still being built.
• Hands-on experience with modern payroll systems; Rippling or Deel experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to process complex compensation structures, including bonuses, commissions, and equity, with zero material errors.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax withholding, remittance, and filing requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Nice to have

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
• Prior public company payroll experience.
• Experience with crypto, token, or equity compensation structures and related tax implications.
