Embedded Software Engineer (Embedded Linux)

Location: Belluno, Italy; regular on-site presence is required.

Salary: €40,000–€45,000 gross annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Develop, document, test, and maintain software applications for embedded Linux environments.
• Contribute to embedded product architecture, software design discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation.
• Improve continuous integration processes, build efficiency, and deployment automation.
• Debug issues with international engineering teams and improve software performance.
• Integrate software with internally developed hardware platforms and programmable electronic controllers.
• Translate business and technical requirements into reliable, reusable, and maintainable software solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of C and embedded software development principles, with experience in embedded Linux environments.
• Knowledge of multithreaded programming, inter-process communication, Linux kernel architecture, and device drivers.
• Experience with Git and the ability to create technical solutions from business requirements.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and secure software development practices, plus strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced English skills are required; the role is based in Belluno with regular on-site work.

Nice to have

• Experience with Yocto, Buildroot, Zephyr, or other real-time operating systems.
• Knowledge of Rust and industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, or MQTT.
• Experience contributing to embedded software architecture decisions and working in international distributed development environments.
