Firmware Engineer (DSP)

Location: Calderara Di Reno, Italy; work includes in-person activities at the premises.

What you will do

• Design and implement real-time systems using DSP algorithms and microcontroller firmware.
• Optimize latency, throughput, memory usage, processing efficiency, and signal-processing algorithms.
• Lead hardware/software integration for embedded real-time solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, design evaluations, testing, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
• Resolve complex technical issues and develop reliable systems that comply with regulatory standards.
• Improve workflows, tools, methodologies, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Professional experience designing, simulating, implementing, verifying, and validating digital circuits on DSP devices and microcontrollers.
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Knowledge of digital electronic circuits and signal-processing algorithms, including FFT, digital filters, and resampling.
• Experience with laboratory equipment, peripheral standards, and communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, RS232, and RGMII.
• Fluent English communication skills, Git proficiency, scripting experience with Bash or Python, and knowledge of agile methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with SHARC or equivalent DSP architectures.
• Knowledge of CMake, GitLab, Docker, CI/CD, Artifactory, application-layer protocols, PCB reworking, or TCL scripting.
