Underwriting Manager Specialty Lines (Head of Construction)

Location: Toronto, Canada; primarily in-office collaboration required

What you will do

• Manage and service an existing Construction All Risks and Erection All Risks portfolio.
• Underwrite new construction accounts sourced through national brokers.
• Analyze manuscript forms and tailor coverage to client needs.
• Perform pricing analysis using data analytics, actuarial techniques, and modeling tools.
• Present hirify.global’s value proposition to brokers and insureds while supporting growth and profitability targets.
• Mentor less experienced team members and contribute to peer reviews, portfolio analysis, and market trend assessments.

Requirements

• Advanced understanding of the construction market, insurance products, loss trends, and engineering issues in mining, oil and gas, and power/utilities.
• Advanced experience underwriting construction product lines.
• Strong proficiency with pricing tools, actuarial techniques, and risk selection.
• Advanced negotiation skills and the ability to build and expand broker and client relationships.
• Experience working with loss-control engineering data, strong analytical and decision-making skills, and excellent organization.
• Post-secondary education or equivalent industry training and experience; strong Microsoft Office knowledge required.
