Location: Overseas military installations in Europe and Africa, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, and Turkey; travel is required for assignments lasting 3 months to 1 year.
Salary: $59,922–$100,280 annually, with actual pay varying by location, qualifications, and experience.

What you will do
- Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling, assessment, action planning, referrals, and follow-up for children and youth of military service members.
- Support Child Development Centers, youth programs, summer camps, DoDEA schools, and military families through consultation, parent guidance, and training.
- Deliver health and wellness presentations, participate in health fairs, and support installation activities focused on children and youth.
- Build relationships with installation Points of Contact, schools, community resources, and military personnel to coordinate services.
- Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to Department of Defense protocols.
- Document counselor activity, participate in supervision and quality-improvement initiatives, and respond to critical incidents and urgent requests.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in behavioral health, mental health, or social work.
- Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a U.S. state, District of Columbia, territory, or commonwealth, plus at least one year of post-licensure counseling experience.
- Experience with children and youth, child and adolescent development or psychology, infant mental health, brief therapy, and solution-focused counseling.
- Previous experience in early childhood education and/or medical settings; school-setting experience is required for school assignments.
- U.S. citizenship and fluent English are required.
- Ability to obtain CNACI, Installation Records Check, criminal history and FBI fingerprint clearances, as well as a Common Access Card; a valid U.S. driver’s license is required.
