Cybersecurity Engineer – Applications (Application Security): Embedding security throughout the software development lifecycle by designing secure systems, reviewing code, identifying vulnerabilities, and integrating security controls with an accent on OWASP vulnerability analysis, application security tooling, cloud security, and cryptographic foundations. Focus on building SAST, DAST, SCA, and CI/CD security capabilities, automating security improvements, and reducing production risk through close collaboration with engineering teams.
Location: 100% remote within the United States
Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do
- Embed application security throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Partner with engineering teams to design secure systems and ship security improvements.
- Identify vulnerabilities, assess risk, and help reduce security issues across the application portfolio.
- Perform hands-on code reviews across multiple programming languages.
- Implement and improve SAST, DAST, SCA, and CI/CD-integrated security tooling.
- Communicate security risks and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of application security or security engineering experience; the posting lists 6+ years of experience.
- Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10, vulnerability classes, exploit patterns, authentication, authorization, and cryptographic primitives.
- Experience with cloud security, modern infrastructure controls, Agile engineering environments, and security automation.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language for tooling and automation.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, or H-1B transfer candidates; new H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.
Nice to have
- OSCP, OSCE, GWAPT, CISSP, or similar industry certification.
- Offensive security tooling and red-team operations experience.
- Bug bounty experience, public CVEs, or open-source security contributions.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM application security considerations.
- Experience in regulated industries with strict compliance requirements.
