TL;DR
Senior Simulation Engineer (Aerospace): Building and maturing physics-based dynamic models for space vehicles and rover mobility studies with an accent on multibody dynamics, terrain and contact modeling, and closed-loop simulation. Focus on developing verification-grade Isaac Sim and Newton assets, correlating models with hardware test data, and designing MIL/SIL/HIL verification strategies.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States

Salary: $197,529–$276,539 annual base pay for Washington applicants; other site ranges may differ.

Company

hirify.global develops reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems to support a future in which millions of people live and work in space.

What you will do

  • Develop and iterate Newton 6-DoF and multibody dynamic models for system concept studies, trade analyses, sensitivity evaluation, and operational envelopes.
  • Build scenario-based rover mobility studies in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, including terrain, slope, obstacle, contact, and traction behavior.
  • Develop terra mechanics models at appropriate fidelity and provide simulation data for control architecture and actuator concept trades.
  • Mature Isaac Sim and Newton models into verification-grade assets with configuration management, parameter governance, logging, metrics, and automated regression scenarios.
  • Correlate models with component, vehicle, and rover test data; support system identification, parameter updates, and model credibility assessments.
  • Define verification artifacts and support simulation-based debugging from laboratory testing through integrated testing and operations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience developing physics-based simulations and dynamic models for aerospace, mobility, or other high-reliability systems.
  • Strong knowledge of rigid- and flexible-body dynamics, contact mechanics, actuator and sensor abstraction, and numerical methods.
  • Experience using simulation to support trade studies, design, and verification across the development lifecycle.
  • Experience developing simulation frameworks with Python and C/C++, including configuration management, automated testing, and verification practices.
  • Working knowledge of control systems sufficient to implement and evaluate closed-loop simulations, including stability, estimation, and tuning.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee due to export control regulations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Newton dynamics models, lunar surface terra mechanics, and rover or vehicle scenario simulation.
  • Experience with MIL/SIL/HIL verification, automated regression testing, and model correlation to hardware test data.
  • B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, robotics, computational science, or a related field; M.S. or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience with continuous integration, automated tests, and configuration and parameter management for modeling and simulation.

Culture & Benefits

  • Safety, collaboration, inclusion, engineering innovation, and manufacturable design are emphasized.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and paid parental leave.
  • 401(k) with company matching of up to 5% and an Education Support Program.
  • Up to four weeks of paid time off and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
  • Stock options are available to regular employees working at least 20 hours per week.
