Senior Software Engineer - Backend (C#/.NET)

Location: Hybrid in Manchester, UK; remote-first with office attendance in Manchester one day every two weeks. Applicants must be eligible to work full-time in the UK.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable backend applications, services, platforms, and APIs.
• Integrate with external travel suppliers and third-party platforms.
• Develop systems that process high volumes of requests, hotel inventory, pricing data, and customer searches.
• Design distributed and event-driven architectures using asynchronous messaging and streaming technologies.
• Build reliable transactional workflows and improve performance, caching, latency, resilience, and availability.
• Develop, deploy, operate, monitor, and improve containerised applications in AWS.

Requirements

• Strong commercial backend software engineering experience at Senior level.
• Experience with C# and .NET or comparable modern backend technologies.
• Experience designing APIs, distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and reliable system integrations.
• Knowledge of cloud-native applications, preferably in AWS, plus SQL and/or NoSQL data stores.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, messaging, asynchronous processing, event-driven architecture, observability, monitoring, automated testing, and production operations.
• Eligibility to work full-time in the UK is required.

Hiring process

• Initial call with the Talent Acquisition Team.
• Three Microsoft Teams stages: Hiring Manager meet and greet, behavioural and ways of working interview, and technical pairing and system design.
• The technical stage lasts 120 minutes and includes two 50-minute parts with a short break and time for questions.
