Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, and operate large-scale Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform environments.
• Own Kafka platform operations, including cluster sizing, configuration, security, automation, and observability.
• Support reliable, performant event-driven workloads and enable application teams to use the streaming platform effectively.
• Implement Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Kafka Streams or ksqlDB, and high-availability and disaster-recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into production-ready solutions.
• Contribute through code and design reviews, troubleshooting, documentation, and mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of production experience operating Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform; the position lists 6+ years of overall experience.
• Deep knowledge of Kafka internals, including partitions, replication, ISRs, and consumer groups.
• Strong experience with Kafka security, including SASL, mTLS, ACLs, and RBAC.
• Experience with Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Kafka Streams or ksqlDB, HA/DR, scripting in Python, Bash, or Go, and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or Ansible.
• Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, Green Card Holders, EAD Holders, or H-1B transfer candidates. New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• Confluent Certified Administrator or Developer credentials.
• Experience operating Kafka on Kubernetes with Strimzi or Confluent Operator.
• Exposure to AWS MSK, Azure Event Hubs Kafka API, Flink, Spark Streaming, or streaming data governance and lineage.
