Senior Software Engineer - Layer1 - C++

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 annual base pay

What you will do

• Architect, design, develop, and maintain Layer1 software features for physical connectivity.
• Build control software for connectors, optics, transceivers, PHYs, forwarding engines, and gearbox interface chips.
• Develop instrumentation and telemetry tools to monitor physical link health and support network troubleshooting.
• Build automated tests and test infrastructure, and improve software scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with customers, product management, hardware, manufacturing, optics, system testing, and customer support teams.
• Provide technical leadership, own projects from definition through deployment, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS with 8+ years of experience, MS with 6+ years, Ph.D. with 3+ years, or equivalent experience in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux and applied understanding of software engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills, with the ability to design and implement solutions independently.
• Experience working effectively in small teams.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of digital communication technologies, including modulation and signal encoding schemes.
• Understanding of IP networking or distributed systems.
• Experience with low-level hardware components.
