Kernel / Hypervisor Engineer (Firecracker)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; onsite

Build cloud infrastructure and serverless compute platforms within AWS Lambda, focusing on virtualization, trusted compute, and server fleet tooling.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Firecracker, an open source virtualization technology for secure, multi-tenant container and function-based services.
• Engineer features based on customer needs and create long-term customer value.
• Automate operational processes and improve system quality and development efficiency.
• Innovate in ephemeral compute platforms and contribute to the Firecracker multi-year roadmap.
• Maintain the open source project and participate in on-call support, typically once every eight weeks.

Requirements

• Professional software development experience outside internships.
• Knowledge or experience in low-level software engineering and/or systems programming.
• Interest in and commitment to working with the open source community.
• Experience with Linux, C, C++, or Rust is preferred.
