Data Engineer II (AdTech)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with two days a week on campus

What you will do

• Build and maintain ELT pipelines supporting analytics requirements across the AdTech tribe.
• Design and evolve dbt analytics data models with tests, documentation, and clear ownership.
• Operate production pipelines through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and follow-up fixes.
• Improve data quality and observability through freshness and volume checks, data contracts, and lineage.
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows, automated testing, staged deployments, technical proposals, and prototypes.
• Review peer code and help improve engineering standards while reducing technical debt.

Requirements

• Around 3–5 years of experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills, including window functions, query performance, and analytical data modeling.
• Solid proficiency in at least one of Python, Java, or Go.
• Hands-on experience with dbt or a comparable transformation or semantic-layer tool.
• Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or another workflow orchestrator.
• Experience with cloud-based data ecosystems such as AWS or GCP, plus strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in AdTech, marketplaces, or other high-volume event domains.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to stream processing technologies such as Apache Flink or Kafka Streams.
