Director, Public Relations & Communications (Biomedical Research)

Location: Remote, U.S.-based, with periodic travel to JAX campuses and events; preference for candidates on the East Coast.

Salary: $146,306–$212,141 per year.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise-wide public relations, media relations, thought leadership, and research communications strategies.
• Advise executive leadership and key stakeholders on communications strategy and messaging.
• Develop media campaigns, press materials, thought leadership opportunities, and public engagement content.
• Build relationships with media, industry influencers, external partners, and other key audiences.
• Lead the research communications team and translate complex scientific discoveries into accessible stories.
• Oversee communications analytics, crisis communications planning, external agencies, and strategic partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, or media relations.
• 6+ years leading strategic communications initiatives.
• Demonstrated success developing communications and media relations strategies with measurable results.
• Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, media relations, stakeholder management, and executive advisory skills.
• Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into compelling stories and measure communications performance.

Nice to have

• Experience in biomedical research, healthcare, life sciences, higher education, or nonprofit organizations.
• Experience advising executive leaders and subject matter experts.
• International media relations experience.
