What you will do
- Own facilities needs and assigned building and utility electrical systems supporting vehicle assembly operations.
- Manage medium- and low-voltage distribution, substations, MCCs, lighting, UPS/generators, building power, and controls.
- Plan and execute capital and expense projects, including scopes, estimates, design coordination, installation, and launch.
- Provide technical direction to contractors and business partners while ensuring safe work and compliance with GM standards.
- Lead problem-solving, preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment uptime improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support skilled trades, plant safety programs, and cross-functional engineering and operations teams, including occasional off-shift, weekend, and shutdown work.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree with significant electrical coursework or experience.
- Experience designing, maintaining, or operating industrial or commercial building electrical systems.
- Experience planning and executing engineering projects, including scope development, estimates, design coordination, installation, and launch.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to electrical safety and safe work practices.
- Immigration sponsorship is not provided; existing United States work authorization is required.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree, PE license, or relevant professional certifications.
- Experience with high-voltage substations and 13.2 kV medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70/70E, arc-flash analysis, electrical drawings, AutoCAD, CMMS, SAP, CAFM, or Archibus.
- Experience in automotive, heavy manufacturing, or large industrial facilities.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects or directing contractors in an operating plant.
