Senior COBOL Developer – Banking and Financial Services

Location: Lisbon, Portugal — hybrid. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance COBOL-based banking applications.
• Analyze requirements and translate them into high-quality COBOL programs.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Technical Leads on reliable solutions.
• Perform system and unit testing, prepare test documentation, and execute test cases.
• Support clients during User Acceptance Testing and other testing phases.
• Provide technical support and transfer knowledge to junior team members.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of programming experience with COBOL, DB2/SQL, JCL, and CICS.
• More than 3 years of experience in system analysis and design.
• Experience with COBOL Online, screens and maps, sequential file handling, and Eclipse.
• Good command of English at B2 or communicative level.
• Existing legal right to work in the European Union is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Visual COBOL and Unix shell scripts.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Git.
• Experience in banking or financial services.
• COBOL or related technology certifications.
