Intern, Fire Protection Engineering

Location: Concord, California, United States; internships are available at multiple locations throughout the United States. Applicants must indicate their #1 and #2 desired locations.

Salary: $20–$30 USD per month

What you will do

• Develop, modify, and review drawings of fire protection systems and components.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and inspection reports according to professional service standards.
• Support field investigations, inspections, detailed design work, design checking, and project coordination.
• Conduct and document building code, egress, fire detection and alarm, smoke control, sprinkler, and water supply analyses.
• Perform basic calculations for egress, building area, sprinkler water supplies, and smoke control equipment.
• Communicate technical information with project team members, clients, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Working toward a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of engineering principles or construction technology and practices.
• Ability to interpret technical procedures, professional publications, governmental regulations, and varied written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.
• Intermediate written and oral communication skills for reports, correspondence, presentations, manuals, and responses to questions.
• Problem-solving, reasoning, self-management, multitasking, and ability to work with limited standardization.
• Intermediate computer skills, including email, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics applications.
