What you will do

• Report and analyse major national, regional and global news stories for hirify.global Online and other platforms.
• Produce accurate, impartial and engaging content for digital, radio, television, podcasts and social media.
• Create original journalism, digital video explainers, field reports and end-of-day features.
• Provide cultural, political and geopolitical insight into South Africa, southern Africa and the wider continent.
• Go live on radio and television, package stories for TV bulletins and respond to breaking news at short notice.
• Experiment with digital and social formats to improve audience engagement and reach diverse audiences.

Requirements

• Right to work in South Africa is required.
• Recent, extensive experience covering South Africa’s culture, politics, geopolitics and history for global news or current affairs media.
• Strong English writing, editorial judgment, sub-editing and script adaptation skills.
• Proven experience producing original journalism and working in digital production environments.
• Ability to report across online, social, radio and television, including live breaking-news coverage.
• Willingness to work throughout Africa and deploy at short notice to other parts of the globe, including hostile environments.
