Product Owner (Back Office, Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the back-office platform end-to-end, including functionality, business logic, data model, documentation, roadmap, and lifecycle.
• Define and improve reconciliation processes, including matching rules, tolerance thresholds, break management, monitoring, and discrepancy reduction.
• Manage settlement and payout logic covering cycles, fees, reserves, netting, FX, adjustments, transparency, and controls.
• Maintain wallet and ledger integrity across currencies and prevent unexplained discrepancies in money movements and balances.
• Translate operational, regulatory, and business needs into a prioritized backlog, write testable requirements, and coordinate delivery with Engineering.
• Lead UAT, business testing, release approvals, incident response, financial data corrections, audits, month-end close support, and user training.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in payments, PSP, acquiring, e-money, fintech, or banking, with hands-on ownership of reconciliation, settlement, or ledger processes.
• Strong understanding of payment lifecycles, including authorization, capture, refunds, chargebacks, representments, settlement timing, provider files, fees, and disputes.
• Knowledge of accounting and ledger principles, including double-entry accounting, wallets, multi-currency operations, and FX.
• Strong SQL skills for investigating production data and identifying root causes of financial discrepancies.
• Experience with CSV, XML, JSON, SFTP, APIs, and reconciliation across multiple data sources.
• Proven product or process ownership experience, including requirements, backlog management, UAT, cross-team delivery, and fluent written English.

Nice to have

• Experience onboarding payment schemes or alternative payment methods, including provider reports, field mapping, fees, refunds, and chargebacks.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS, AML, safeguarding, client money, and regulatory reporting.
• Experience with Finance and accounting systems, GL interfaces, month-end close, and merchant liability reporting.
• Experience improving operational controls, automating reconciliation, and reducing manual intervention.
