Location: Remote or onsite in Lenexa, Kansas; Plano, Texas; Bentonville, Arkansas; or Kansas City, Missouri. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

What you will do

• Perform calculations and design basic fire protection and building systems with experienced design staff.
• Prepare system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, reports, and project plans.
• Review shop drawings for conformance with plans and specifications.
• Coordinate requirements and scope with clients, architects, and project teams.
• Answer client and architect questions, participate in business development activities, and support professional relationship building.
• Visit job sites occasionally to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress while researching codes, standards, products, and industry trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, architectural, or another relevant engineering field plus one year of relevant experience, or four years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of the A&E industry, engineering codes, design guides, and standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering design software applicable to the discipline.
• Strong technical aptitude, critical-thinking, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, lead less experienced designers, receive feedback, and adapt to coaching.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; employment eligibility will be verified.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Certifications such as BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, or RCDD.
