Research Engineer (Graph Databases)

What you will do

• Design and implement the Aurendil prototype, a new query language runtime for graph databases.
• Develop a completely new database system architecture from theoretical foundations through implementation and evaluation.
• Explore programming language technologies and new approaches to query execution on cloud hardware.
• Disseminate research results to hirify.global product engineering teams and the academic research community.
• Collaborate within a cross-disciplinary team of post-doctoral researchers.

Requirements

• Experience in an academic or industrial research environment and a robust understanding of research practice.
• Background in systems research, such as query languages, databases, compilers, parallel computing, distributed systems, or hardware acceleration.
• Experience with query languages and their implementation, programming languages and their implementation, compiler construction and code generation, managed runtimes and virtual machines, database internals, parallel computing, distributed computing, or hardware acceleration.
• Experience with relevant technologies including LLVM, x86, ARM, JVM, GraalVM, GPGPUs, FPGAs, or Smart NICs, where applicable to the candidate's specialization.
• A strong background in designing and developing complex systems using C++, Java, or Rust.
• Post-doctoral research experience.
