Senior Back-end Engineer (PHP, Node.js)

Location: Fully remote within Spain, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, or Estonia; office option available in Riga, Latvia.

What you will do

• Build and ship high-quality, scalable backend code for Commerce solutions.
• Design and execute engineering initiatives, prioritized bug fixes, and platform improvements.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders, applying product thinking to technical decisions.
• Contribute through code reviews, refactoring, testing, and pair programming.
• Share knowledge in weekly sessions and improve engineering practices across the codebase.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience with proficiency in PHP or Node.js and willingness to learn the other.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Expertise in high-load architecture, distributed systems, Domain-Driven Design, and CQRS.
• Strong knowledge of SOLID, TDD, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
• Experience with debugging, unit testing, and application performance optimization.
• Product-minded approach, prioritization by business impact, and strong ownership.

Nice to have

• Practical experience using Claude, LLMs, or coding assistants for development workflows.
