Spacecraft GNC Engineer II

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The position is based at hirify.global's global headquarters and requires U.S. citizenship due to program requirements and ITAR-regulated technology.

Base pay: $115,000–$140,000 USD per year for California positions.

What you will do

• Lead GNC and ADCS development across spacecraft concept definition, algorithm development, subsystem requirements, detailed design, and integration and testing.
• Design flight software, GNC algorithms, simulations, and spacecraft autonomy tools for constellation management.
• Select GNC components and define fault detection and response functions.
• Develop and execute test processes, including hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulations.
• Integrate flight and simulation software with analysis, test, and operations tools and support internal and external design reviews.
• Plan schedules and milestones, report technical status, and coordinate with Systems, Avionics, Flight Software, Mission Operations, Ground Software, Denver, and New Zealand teams.

Requirements

• BS degree and 2+ years of experience in GNC or ADCS.
• Previous experience directly interfacing with commercial or government aerospace customers.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to work with spacecraft flight software, algorithms, simulation, subsystem design, and integration and test activities.
• Ability to work in production environments involving prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, with occasional moderate noise, dust, and fumes.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD, an active DoD Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
• RPOD design and operations experience, GNC hardware experience, and blended attitude solution development.
• Experience developing, implementing, and verifying flight software, as well as spacecraft on-orbit operations and anomaly resolution.
• Experience with Jira, mentoring engineers, leading teams through project lifecycles, and managing multiple projects.
• Experience with GNC-related business development or conceptual design.
