TL;DR
Sr Engineer III, Algorithm (Biomedical Signal Processing): Designing, developing, validating, and optimizing advanced biomedical signal processing algorithms for noninvasive medical monitoring technologies with an accent on digital signal processing, statistical analysis, numerical modeling, and embedded implementation. Focus on analyzing clinical datasets, validating algorithm performance for regulated medical devices, and leading complex technical initiatives across engineering, clinical, quality, and regulatory teams.

Location: Onsite at the Irvine, California office, United States

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 per year, plus eligibility for up to a 10% annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, validation, and optimization of biomedical signal processing algorithms.
  • Apply signal processing, statistical analysis, estimation, optimization, numerical modeling, and software development to improve algorithm accuracy and reliability.
  • Design experiments, analyze clinical and engineering datasets, and validate algorithm performance for product development and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement algorithms in MATLAB, C/C++, Python, and embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, clinical, quality, regulatory, and product management teams.
  • Provide technical leadership, establish engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical documentation and intellectual property.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience developing algorithms for biomedical signal processing or complex sensing applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in MATLAB and C/C++; experience with Python or similar programming languages.
  • Strong expertise in digital and statistical signal processing, estimation techniques, optimization methods, and numerical modeling.
  • Understanding of embedded systems and algorithm implementation considerations.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets with statistical methods and independently leading complex technical projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English is required. A relevant bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing physiological measurement algorithms for medical devices.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, pulse oximetry, or other noninvasive monitoring technologies.
  • Experience with FDA-regulated medical device development, Design Controls, and verification and validation processes.
  • Experience applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, or advanced modeling to biomedical signal processing.
  • Publications, patents, or a demonstrated history of technical innovation.
