Fraud Investigator (Crypto)

Location: Remote across the UK and Europe, with a London office

Salary: Approximately £40,000 per year, depending on experience and location

What you will do

• Investigate potential fraud and financial crime involving crypto payment rails, including payment fraud, account takeover, and money laundering typologies.
• Build crypto-specific investigation capabilities, including on-chain tracing methods, tooling, and documented processes.
• Train the wider Fraud team to identify crypto fraud red flags and typologies during standard triage.
• Design prevention and detection strategies for crypto-related fraud and financial crime.
• Work with investigation-tooling vendors and lead relevant escalations to law enforcement.
• Contribute crypto-risk expertise to loss-prevention strategy across Fraud, Payments, and Product.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of fraud and/or financial crime investigation experience with specific crypto or blockchain exposure.
• Experience from an exchange, blockchain analytics firm, bank crypto desk, or law-enforcement crypto unit.
• Experience designing or improving investigation techniques and processes.
• Practical familiarity with crypto investigation tools such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic.
• Ability to act as the crypto subject-matter expert, train colleagues, and work across Fraud, Payments, and Product.
• High ownership and comfort building a new capability without an established playbook.

Nice to have

• Experience combining hands-on casework with process and systems design.
• Experience building a fraud or financial-crime function from the ground up.
