TL;DR
Senior Test Automation Engineer (AI): Building and owning an end-to-end and contract-testing platform for ecommerce, APIs, and internal tooling with an accent on deterministic Playwright/TypeScript tests, REST and JSON Schema validation, and fast CI/CD feedback. Focus on protecting commerce flows, preventing schema drift across microservices, reducing test flakiness, and converting production incidents into automated regression coverage.
Location: Full-time, on-site role at the Rotterdam office, Netherlands
Base salary: €4,000–€5,500 gross per month, depending on seniority and experience.

What you will do
- Own the automated Platform Test Harness and design deterministic end-to-end test suites with Playwright and TypeScript.
- Build contract tests and REST/JSON Schema validations for service boundaries, including the Product Catalog Engine, checkout services, and partner integrations.
- Work with Product Owners and software engineers during sprint refinement to define boundary contracts, edge cases, and the Definition of Done.
- Maintain and optimize GitHub Actions pipelines through parallelization, artifact caching, containerized execution, and pipeline debugging.
- Convert confirmed production defects and high-priority incidents into automated regression tests.
- Collaborate with the QA Automation Engineer and mentor software engineers in integration testing, TDD, and reviewing AI-generated test scaffolding.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software testing and automation experience as an SDET or QA Automation Engineer.
- Experience testing modern web applications and distributed APIs.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript or JavaScript and Playwright or Cypress.
- Practical experience with RESTful APIs, webhooks, JSON data contracts, and contract testing across microservices.
- Working knowledge of GitHub Actions or equivalent CI systems, including parallel test runners and containerized test execution.
- AI-first thinking, high autonomy, ownership, and commitment to working on-site at the Rotterdam headquarters.
