Senior Java / Spring Boot Lead Developer (Financial Services)

Location: Porto, Portugal — hybrid work model. Candidates must already have the legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy Java and Spring Boot microservices supporting lease application solutions.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, resilient, and high-performance technical solutions.
• Review and optimize existing codebases for quality, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Apply TDD, clean coding, automated testing, and software development best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and GitLab CI.
• Provide technical mentorship through code reviews, pair programming, architecture documentation, and API documentation.

Requirements

• 9+ years of backend development experience in enterprise Java environments.
• Strong expertise in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• In-depth knowledge of microservices design, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL, as well as NoSQL databases.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and GitLab CI.
• Fluent English and French at C1/C2 level; existing legal right to work in the European Union required.

Nice to have

• Experience with banking or leasing software platforms.
• Exposure to cloud-native architecture and modern application monitoring tools.
