Principal Systems Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Skaneateles, New York, United States. Hybrid work with a required minimum number of onsite days per week.

Salary: $112,000–$154,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Support the sustainment and new product development of connected monitoring products throughout the product lifecycle.
• Translate customer needs, business constraints, and regulatory requirements into functional and performance system requirements.
• Plan and execute risk management activities, including risk analysis, evaluation, and control.
• Decompose and allocate system-level requirements to modules and ensure requirements are clear, concise, and verifiable.
• Plan and oversee reliability and robustness activities.
• Lead technical risk identification, issue resolution, test defect resolution, and holistic change-impact analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, software engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
• 5–6+ years of engineering experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 14971 for medical-device risk management, IEC 62304, and IEC/TR 80002-1.
• Fundamental understanding of hardware and software engineering disciplines.
• Ability to write clear, concise, and verifiable requirements and manage multiple deliverables in parallel.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making, planning, and execution skills.
