Associate Principal Analyst, Surveillance and Market Intelligence (Financial Surveillance)

Location: Rockville, Maryland, United States; hybrid work environment with defined in-person presence requirements

Salary: $96,600–$172,800 annually for work performed in MA, MD, VA, or Washington, DC; compensation varies by location, experience, education, and skills.

What you will do

• Conduct routine surveillance reviews of moderate to high complexity to identify unusual trading activity and potential violations.
• Analyze trading activity and research applicable hirify.global, MSRB, federal securities, and client rules.
• Test and develop analytics, surveillance tools, and processes for detecting and deterring fraudulent activity.
• Prepare detailed reports and document review steps, results, and referrals to Enforcement or outside agencies.
• Participate in cross-surveillance initiatives and special projects while monitoring industry and regulatory developments.
• Coach and train colleagues on surveillance techniques, processes, and responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in the securities or financial services industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding of the surveillance development lifecycle and experience identifying potential securities-rule violations.
• Working knowledge of hirify.global, MSRB, other SRO rules, and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
• Experience working independently on routine projects and completing assignments accurately and on time.
• hirify.global Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) certification or an accepted equivalent is required upon hire or within 16 months of the assigned training cohort start date.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with required in-person attendance; occasional extended hours and travel may be necessary.
