Staff/Senior Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack (Geospatial)

What you will do

• Lead full-stack design and development of Geofencer, including a React/TypeScript map-editing application and Python backend services.
• Own geospatial workflows for versioned geofence editing, road-network annotation, drivable-area computation, connectivity validation, and Plan of Record releases.
• Integrate Geofencer with the Zoox Road Network map graph, S3 artifact pipelines, fleet and mission systems, and ML-assisted annotation workflows.
• Operate production infrastructure using Bazel, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, Sentry, OpenTelemetry, and CI/CD.
• Build scripts and tools for data migrations, bulk annotation operations, and metrics generation.
• Set technical direction, align with mapping, autonomy, operations, and safety stakeholders, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of industry experience building and operating production full-stack systems on large codebases.
• Strong proficiency with Python backend services, React, TypeScript or JavaScript, relational databases, asynchronous task queues, and scripting or automation.
• Experience with Linux, AWS or similar cloud infrastructure, containerized deployments, build systems, version control, testing, and CI/CD.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in multi-quarter projects, architectural direction, and engineering mentorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostGIS, GDAL, Shapely, Turf, deck.gl, Mapbox GL, Leaflet, road-network data models, GIS tooling, or map-based web applications.
• Robotics, automotive, aerospace, or safety-critical software experience.
• Familiarity with ML-assisted data pipelines, including VLM-based annotation or labeling workflows.
