Staff/Senior Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack (Geospatial) (React/TypeScript/Python): Building and operating Geofencer, a geospatial platform for defining autonomous-vehicle operating areas, road annotations, pickup/dropoff zones, and fleet release plans with an accent on interactive map editing, geospatial services, and safety-critical correctness. Focus on leading full-stack architecture, validating road-network connectivity, integrating fleet and mapping systems, and mentoring engineers across multi-quarter projects.

What you will do
- Lead the architecture and development of Geofencer across a React/TypeScript map-editing frontend and Python geospatial backend services.
- Own versioned geofence editing, road-network annotation, drivable-area computation, connectivity validation, and Plan of Record releases to the autonomous fleet.
- Integrate with the Zoox Road Network, S3 artifact pipelines, downstream fleet and mission systems, and ML-assisted annotation workflows.
- Operate production infrastructure using Bazel, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, Sentry, OpenTelemetry, and CI/CD.
- Build scripts and tools for data migrations, bulk annotation operations, and metrics generation.
- Set technical direction, align with mapping, autonomy, operations, and safety stakeholders, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of industry experience building and operating production full-stack systems on large codebases.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong experience with Python backend services, React with TypeScript or JavaScript, relational databases, asynchronous task queues, and scripting or automation.
- Experience with Linux, AWS or similar cloud infrastructure, containers, build systems, version control, testing, and CI/CD.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through multi-quarter projects, architectural direction, and engineering mentorship.
Nice to have
- Experience with PostGIS, GDAL, Shapely, Turf, deck.gl, Mapbox GL, Leaflet, GIS tooling, or road-network and graph data models.
- Robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other safety-critical software experience.
- Familiarity with ML-assisted data pipelines, including VLM-based annotation or labeling workflows.
