Manufacturing Design Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $112,500–$157,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Develop robust manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment, and automation solutions for complex electro-mechanical products.
• Lead manufacturing readiness activities through DVT, PVT, validation, process qualification, and initial production ramp.
• Drive DFM and DFA improvements affecting manufacturability, quality, cost, yield, cycle time, and throughput.
• Analyze manufacturing data and improve process capability, yield, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Product Design, Test Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations on product launches and production scaling.
• Independently lead complex technical projects from concept through high-volume production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience developing and scaling manufacturing processes for complex electro-mechanical products.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment, and production automation.
• Knowledge of SPC, Cpk, DOE, tolerance analysis, root-cause problem solving, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Experience supporting DVT, PVT, manufacturing validation, process qualification, and production ramp.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or equivalent, along with strong communication and project leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with drones, robotics, aerospace, or other mission-critical hardware products.
• Experience with factory automation, machine vision, industrial robotics, and custom manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA.
