Cleared Guidance and Control Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Design, analyze, simulate, and evaluate complex spacecraft and payload guidance, navigation, and control subsystems.
• Develop advanced GNC algorithms and flight software for subsystem and system-level integration and testing.
• Create and execute detailed subsystem test and verification plans.
• Lead teams developing and operating GNC systems.
• Coordinate validation and documentation of subsystem performance before delivery.
• Support on-orbit commissioning and operations.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field with at least 6 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 4 years or a PhD with 2 years of experience.
• Strong background in modern guidance, estimation, and control for aerospace systems.
• Experience researching and developing advanced GNC systems for precision pointing.
• Ability to work effectively in teams, lead technical efforts, and communicate and present clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with GNC architectures, precision payload dynamics and controls, linear and nonlinear control, estimation, Kalman filtering, and computer vision.
• Experience with autonomous spacecraft or aerial systems, vision-based and terrain-relative navigation, lidar navigation, and formation flying.
• Experience with optical pointing systems, lasers, detectors, fast steering mirrors, high-rate control systems, and integrated GNC hardware and software.
• Experience with structural modeling, finite element analysis, flexible structures, optics, thermal modeling, and multi-rate simulations.
• Comfort working with Matlab and Simulink, plus familiarity with signal processing.
