Senior Staff Software Developer (Core Infrastructure)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada; in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week

Base pay range: CAD 234,000–275,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and evolution of the service mesh, including Istio, Envoy, and the networking foundation for multi-region operations.
• Define the long-term direction of the Kubernetes compute platform, including cluster lifecycle, scheduling, control plane architecture, and resiliency.
• Redesign Terraform infrastructure provisioning into a scalable, self-service platform for rapid regional expansion and developer autonomy.
• Diagnose and resolve source-level issues across Kubernetes API machinery, etcd, Envoy xDS, and Terraform providers.
• Lead architecture proposals, design reviews, and cross-functional alignment on infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on expertise with Kubernetes internals, including the API server, controller reconciliation, etcd watch propagation, scheduler mechanics, and admission control.
• Deep working knowledge of Istio and/or Envoy at source-code level, including the xDS protocol and control-plane/data-plane debugging.
• Strong knowledge of HTTP/2 and gRPC wire-level concepts, including connection management, flow control, stream multiplexing, and observability.
• Architectural-scale Terraform experience covering module design, provider internals, remote state, and multi-region provisioning.
• Production experience with Go or Python and the ability to write structured, tested, operationally sound infrastructure code.
• Proven ability to drive architectural change across large or complex engineering organizations and influence without authority.
