Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer (Coupang AI Foundations)

Location: Mountain View, United States

Base salary: $174,000–$299,000 per year. Annual bonus: 0–20% of base salary.

What you will do

• Develop advanced AI engineering solutions for e-commerce scenarios.
• Research optimization techniques for AI reasoning and token completion models.
• Build computer-vision capabilities for e-commerce product enablement.
• Improve observability of model reasoning and develop e-commerce-optimized model architectures.
• Design, implement, and independently improve high-quality algorithms and systems.
• Run experiments, analyze results, iterate quickly, and deliver business impact through technology innovation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML and familiarity with current deep learning techniques.
• Ability to design and implement high-quality algorithms and systems independently.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience in technology companies or organizations.
• Knowledge of e-commerce or willingness to learn the domain.
• Industry experience applying Large Language Models or Large Image Models.
• Experience generating improvements through deep analysis of algorithms and systems.
