Senior Machine Learning Scientist (Agentic AI)

Location: San Jose, Seattle, or Austin, United States

Salary: $187,000–$261,500 annually in San Jose; $173,000–$242,500 annually in Seattle and Austin. Total cash may reach up to $299,000 in San Jose and $277,000 in Seattle or Austin.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evaluate multi-step agentic AI systems with planning, tool use, memory, and multi-agent collaboration.
• Research and implement agentic architectures such as ReAct, reflection loops, chain-of-thought prompting, and tool-augmented reasoning.
• Develop agent orchestration frameworks for task decomposition, delegation, failure handling, and recovery.
• Integrate large language models with external tools, APIs, databases, and code execution environments.
• Define evaluation frameworks measuring task success, reliability, latency, cost, and safety.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and research teams, mitigate agentic-system risks, and mentor junior ML engineers and scientists.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related industry experience.
• Production or research experience designing and deploying agentic or multi-step AI systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Experience with LLM APIs, orchestration libraries, external tools, APIs, and structured data sources.
• Solid understanding of prompt engineering, including chain-of-thought, few-shot prompting, and structured output generation.
• Experience defining ML evaluation frameworks, offline benchmarks, and production monitoring.

Nice to have

• PhD, MS, or BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Travel or e-commerce industry experience.
• ML publications, patents, or open-source contributions.
• Experience taking models from prototype to production with Machine Learning Engineering teams.
